Heat and pressure applied to Fargo's Polyguard Overlam make the finished card virtually tamperproof; Fargo's Polyguard Laminates' 1.0 mil thick surface guarantees long life for cards that must be subjected to repeated swipes through magnetic stripe readers. In independent tests, cards laminated with PolyGuard withstood up to 50 thousand swipes through a magnetic stripe reader; competing cards began to show damage after 300 swipes. Fargo 81789 Polyguard Overlaminate can be used on cards containing both magnetic stripes and embedded smart chips. Application of PolyGuard overlaminate to printed cards takes from 20 to 40 seconds, and leaves an approximately 3mm wide unlaminated edge around the card's edges.
